Berliner Energieagentur GmbH
Berliner Energieagentur (BEA) is a private Energy Service Company. The Agency was founded in 1992 on the initiative of the Berlin House of Representatives. Equal shareholders are the State of Berlin, Vattenfall Wärme AG, GASAG Berliner Gaswerke Aktiengesellschaft and KfW Bankengruppe. With currently 55 members of staff, the company’s turn-over was at 9.3 million € in 2010 (EBIT 526 k€).
BEA develops and implements strategies, projects and campaigns at the regional, national and international level to save energy costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. It opens up energy saving and efficiency potentials in buildings and installations for customers from industry and commerce as well as the housing, service and public sector. BEA offers its services in the departments Contracting, Consulting and International Know-how Transfer.
The Contracting Department is specialised in supply with small and micro combined heat and power units (CHP) and heat stations. As contractor, the agency finances and operates these units in Berlin and its surroundings. Innovative, environment-friendly and economical technologies such as CHP, trigeneration, photovoltaics and solar thermal energy are being deployed.
The Consulting Department is organised into the business units InformE and ProjektE. BEA advises on all aspects of efficient energy use, prepares energy concepts, provides project management for Energy Performance Contracting projects and fosters the deployment of Renewable Energy. The scope of business also includes public campaigns for end users, decision makers and multipliers.
Since 2003, the International Know-how Transfer Department of Berliner Energieagentur has transferred the agency’s experiences with efficient use of energy through numerous international projects to other countries. The department advises national governments, international organisations and companies with regard to the implementation of successful models for the rational use of energy and the use of Combined Heat and Power and Renewable Energy.
