Jozef Stefan Institute
The Jozef Stefan Institute (JSI) is the main national technological institute, complementing the role of the universities and bridging the gap between science and applications. It has a staff of approximately 710 people and is primarily financed by the Government through the Ministry of University Education and Science mainly on project basis. The Institute is heavily engaged in basic and applied research, and it has established many links with industrial enterprises, government departments and other organisations.
Energy Efficiency Centre
The basic activities of the Energy Efficiency Centre (EEC) are in efficient energy use, long term planning in energy and the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions.
The Centre is a focal point for the collection and transfer of energy efficiency technologies to energy users, the state, energy service and equipment providers, and other interested agencies. At the same time it covers environmental effects of energy use and conversion.
The most significant part of EEC activities is thus cooperation with state institutions in the preparation of strategic documents and legislation in the field of efficient energy use, energy planning, distributed electricity production, emission trading; nevertheless it still remains strongly connected, by its consulting and training role in energy, with industrial companies and other institutions.
In the field of energy efficiency promotion and energy consulting in industry and institutions, the EEC carries out energy audits, energy concepts, feasibility studies and pre-feasibility studies with an emphasis on cogeneration systems and designs, monitors and evaluates energy efficiency programmes, introduction of energy efficient technologies and energy management, informing and awareness building of energy users as well as other target groups and promotes energy efficient technologies and procedures.
